Meditate-Day 58

WEEK 9 | DAY 58

Yesterday we cross referenced John 6:63 and John 16:13. Here they are in sequence:

“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
  • What kind of “life” is Jesus referring to?
  • What does Jesus mean when He says “the flesh counts for nothing”?
  • What “words” are being referred to?
  • What do you think Jesus means when He says His “words… are spirit”?
  • What does Jesus mean when He says that the Spirit will “not speak on his own”?
  • *If He (The Spirit) can’t speak on His own, then what does Jesus mean when He says that “he will speak only what he hears…”? (it is important to reflect on the previous verse to get this right!)
  • What is the promise of this verse?

MEMORY VERSES

PRIMARY VERSE: How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9, 11
SECONDARY VERSE: Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:17-18
